Welcome to my academic website!
My name is Ziyao Tian (zee-yao tih-an; she/her). I am a sociologist at Pew Research Center.
My research interests include the U.S. Asian population, race & ethnicity, social stratification & inequality, economic sociology, education, and immigration.
A primary line of my research examines the stratification of Asian Americans. Another strand of my research investigates how money works in and for families.
I use quantitative and qualitative methods to pursue my research agenda and have worked with historical censuses, administrative data, national surveys, multi-language focus groups, and in-depth interviews.
I received my Ph.D. in Sociology from Princeton University in 2023. I completed my M.A. in East Asian Studies from Stanford University in 2017 and my B.A. in Sociology from Peking University in 2015.
